Initiatives
The Winchester Aid Alliance, Inc. has implemented three official programs to directly enhance the communities that our organization has determined require additional assistance to further improve their respective levels of well-being.
25 Suenu Memorial Scholarship Initiative
The 25 Suenu Memorial Scholarship Initiative is an annual program created to memorialize the late members of the Adeshiyan and Giwa families. The scholarship initiative also encourages the continued academic performance of students particularly pursuing a degree in the Department of Communications at Alabama State University and supports the school's overall efforts of continued alumni financial support. This is a $1000.00 essay scholarship contest. Scholarship funds will be presented to the winning applicant during ASU homecoming week, Fall 2024. The title of the program, 25 Suenu, refers to the family’s home in Lagos, Nigeria. For more information regarding the scholarship click here.
Agbada Professional Attire Fundraiser
The Agbada Professional Attire Fundraiser is a biannual program that provides business apparel and accessories to men needing assistance as they navigate new job opportunities, and may have been met with resistance due to previous personal or professional setbacks. The funds donated are used to purchase suits, dress shirts, ties, belts, dress socks and dress shoes that will, in turn, be offered to determined recipients at our Midwest-based program partner, GRO Community, an organization who serves the very audience we have determined requires special assistance. The title of the program, Agbada, refers to the Yoruba translation for traditional, formal menswear. To see more about this initiative, click here.
No Ebi Homeless Charity Program
The No Ebi Homeless Charity Program was created to directly challenge and counter the ongoing, ever-present hunger crisis in the Atlanta metro area. Occuring every other month, this program will strategically pinpoint local areas in which its occupants are in need of physical and emotional support. Those in need will be given health conscious meals and beverages, in addition to essential, personal toiletry items that may not be readily available. The title of the program refers to the Yoruba translation for No Hunger.
